What is your fee for a legal consultation?
All of our initial consultations are free.
I have another lawyer handling my personal injury accident case and I am thinking about changing lawyers. How much will it cost me to get a second opinon and change lawyers?
There is no charge for a second opinion. If we think that we can help serve you better and you want to change you will still only be obligated to pay the usual 1/3 contingency fee. This legal fee will be divided between your original lawyer and us as your new attorneys.
Are all personal injury lawyers the same?
Not all personal injury lawyers are the same. Some accident lawyers practice in other areas of the law as well. Most personal injury lawyers are not Certified Civil Trial Attorneys. In fact, there are many lawyers representing accident victims that have never even tried a jury case in their entire careers. You need to ask a lawyer about his or her trial experience before or after you hired them. We only practice in the area of personal injury law and we do not represent any insurance companies. We have seven lawyers in our firm certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as Civil Trial Attorneys.
What is a contingent fee?
A contingent fee means that a client will only pay the lawyer a legal fee
if there is a financial recovery. The amount will be a percentage of the actual amount received.
I have been told that I cannot make a personal injury claim for my car accident lawyers because I have the “Limitation on Lawsuit Threshold.” Is that true?
That is not true. First of all, as long as you have a permanent injury you are entitled to make a claim and be compensated for your injuries; or if you were involved in an accident with a truck or a commercial vehicle the threshold does not even apply. There are many exceptions to the Lawsuit threshold also know as the verbal threshold.
Will my case go to trial?
Most cases do not go to trial unless an insurance company is being
unfair in settling a case. We do prepare all cases for trial.
Does that mean that my case will not settle?
Over 95% of all cases settle prior to trial. An insurance company will only become serious about resolving a claim when they see that a plaintiff is willing to go to trial.
How long will my case take?
Most cases take 15 to 20 months on average from the time the complaint is filed.
