Aside from being one of the most densely populated states in America, New Jersey is part of the I-95 corridor. As a result, interstate truck accidents are all too common in New Jersey.

Several Interstate Highways converge in Bergen County New Jersey. Interstate Highway I280, I287, I78 and I46 all lead to the New Jersey Turnpike. New Jersey Route 4 and 17 as well as the Garden State Parkway all lead there as well. Withe the exception of the Parkway, all of these roads are heavily traveled by trucks and trailers. Fortunately, there are Federal and State laws and regulations that are designed to protect motorists from the negligent actions of a truck driver. These laws and regulations require truckers to be adequately rested to prevent driver fatigue on the highway. Interstate truckers are required to keep logbooks and journals of their friving and rest time. Owners of 18 wheelers are required to properly maintain their vehicles. Truck drivers need a special license to operate a truck. Other causes of trucking accidents including vehicle defects, unsafe speed, unsafe passing, or improper loading of materials.
